Here are all of our most frequently asked questions.
Casting can be done at any age – although we recommend that you wait until your baby is at least one week old.
The family circle of hands is not recommended for children under 5 years of age due to the length of time required to sit still. instead, we would suggest an individual cast; a family line up of hands; or a clasped hands free standing sculpture.
For casts of babies hands/feet, and for free standing clasped hand sculptures, the hand/foot is immersed in the mould mixture for only 30 seconds. However, clients are allocated 30 minutes for preparation, to chat, selection of frames and colour schemes etc.
For casts of the family circle, we allocate between 1 – 1.5 hours. The setting time for this is 20 – 30 minutes. Casting is done in our studio or the clients own home.
Please go to our ‘book now’ page to see where we will be casting this month.
Keep a check on our facebook page to see when we will be casting in a store near you.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to have your babies cast taken in your own home, we will travel to you.
Castings for the family circle, adult hands, pregnancy bumps and pets paws are all done in the clients own home.
Its not particularly messy and we use sheets to protect clothing, but we advise wearing clothes that are easy to roll up (legs/sleeves) and not designer wear.
Store casting – we require full payment at the time of taking the casting. Your finished cast will be left at the store for you to collect during our next casting session there (usually 4 weeks).
Home visits – we require a 50% payment at the time of taking the cast, and a 50% payment on delivery of your finished cast.
Casting have to be allowed to dry. They are then painted and framed, or mounted on a plinth. This generally takes about 3-4 weeks
